What we collect, which is close to nothing.
This page covers the Wayseer websites, our email, and our software. “We” means Wayseer LLC, which runs the sites and makes the software. It is written to be read, not scrolled past.

These websites
wayseer.net, wayseer.app and wayseer.dev set no cookies, run no analytics, and load nothing from third parties: no fonts, scripts, images or embeds from anyone else's servers. The one exception is the payment step when you buy a license, which is Paddle's (below). There is no account to create. The only forms are on a product's site, to buy a license or to ask for a trial key. The only thing a page keeps is your choice of light or dark theme, if you set one with the switch in the footer, and that is stored in your own browser, never sent to us, and removed when you switch back to auto.
The sites are served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare keeps the connection logs it needs to serve and protect the site, including IP addresses, for a short time, under its own privacy terms. We do not read those logs to identify visitors and we do not combine them with anything else, because there is nothing else.
If you write to us, we keep your message and our reply for as long as the conversation needs, and for as long as we may need to show what was said, for instance about a license you bought. We do not add you to any list, share your address with anyone, or send anything you did not ask for. If you ask us to delete a conversation, we do, unless a license or a legal obligation depends on it, in which case we tell you what we keep and why.
Our software
Wayseer products run on your computers and read the systems you configure. We design them to keep your data, your configuration and your license on your machines, and to tell us nothing about you. None of them has usage statistics, crash reporting or an account to sign in to.
Where a product makes any network request to us at all, for instance to learn that a newer version exists, its own site and documentation say exactly what is sent, that it carries nothing identifying you, and how to turn it off. Wayseer Desktop's one such request is a daily fetch of a public, signed file from wayseer.app, the same for everyone. Like any request, it reaches Cloudflare with your IP address, which is kept only in the connection logs described above. A product can also contact things you choose, such as your own servers or a third-party service you configure; those connections are between you and them, under their terms.
Buying a license
Licenses are sold through Paddle, which acts as our reseller and merchant of record. When you buy, you pay on Paddle's checkout, and Paddle collects and keeps your payment and billing details under its own privacy notice, which the checkout links. We never see your card.
From Paddle we receive what we need to issue the license: the buyer's name and email address, the company for a business purchase, what was bought and when, the version of the license you agreed to, and whether it was renewed or refunded. From that we keep a license record: the licensee, the license ID and type, any seat labels, its dates, and the version you agreed to. We email the keys to the buyer from licenses@wayseer.net, and a notice of each renewal's date and total 30 to 60 days before it. We keep the record for as long as the license can be renewed or replaced, and after that for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
If you ask for a trial key, we keep the email address you give, the name the key is for, and the trial's dates, to send you the key, to tell a trial from a purchase later, and to give each organization no more than one trial every six months. We keep a trial record for three years after the trial ends, then delete it. We add you to no list and send you nothing else.
A business that buys keys may give us seat labels, and the people it gives keys to are its own staff. For that information the business decides what is collected and why, and we act on its instructions.
Who we are
Wayseer LLC, a Utah limited liability company, decides how the information on this page is used, and is responsible for it (its “controller”, in European terms). Write to hello@wayseer.net.
Paddle is separately responsible for the payment and billing details it collects at checkout, under its own privacy notice. The services below handle the rest for us, under contracts that let them use it only to provide their service:
- Cloudflare: hosting the sites, running the licensing service and its database, and sending and receiving our email.
The email we read is held in a Gmail account, under Google's own terms and privacy policy.
We sell no one's information and share it with no one else, unless the law requires it.
Why we may
- To provide what you asked for (a contract with you): issuing, sending, renewing and revoking license and trial keys, and answering your email.
- Because the law requires it: keeping purchase records for tax and accounting.
- Our legitimate interest in running safe, honest services: connection logs, telling trials from purchases, and withdrawing keys that were refunded or misused. You may object to these, and we stop unless we have a stronger reason to continue.
Where it is kept
Wayseer LLC and the services it uses are in the United States, so what we hold is stored and handled there. When it comes from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, Cloudflare handles it under its data processing agreement with us, which includes the European Commission's standard contractual clauses, and Paddle handles what it collects under its own privacy notice. Write to us for a copy of Cloudflare's agreement.
Our sites and software are not aimed at anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Your rights
You may ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and object to how it is used, by writing to hello@wayseer.net. Since what we hold is at most an email conversation and a license or trial record, the answer is short. We answer within a month. You may also ask for a copy in a form you can take elsewhere. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may complain to your data protection authority, though we would rather hear from you first. If you are in a jurisdiction that gives you more rights than these, you have them.
If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it, and anything that becomes less private than it was is said in plain words at the top, not buried in a revision.
